If you've been on my blog at all, you know that we enjoy spending time in/on the water. We bought a house on the lake two years ago and remodeled it just so that the water could be in our back yard. We started going out on the boat in April and are still going strong. We have family/friends over most weekends and have made some amazing memories already this summer. This is one of my favorite pictures - my two oldest kids spending some quality time with my brother on the water tube.
One of our favorite things about summer on the lake is the fireworks. There were several big fireworks shows for July 4th. One was the weekend before, there were many people shooting the weekend of, and then there was even a huge show the weekend after. Even before we lived on the lake, we took the boat out for these awesome displays and my kids talk about each year often. We take my parents and/or siblings out with us and make it a family affair. We get to sit, chat, and watch the sunset until it is time for the fireworks. They timed this display to various patriotic songs on a local radio station.
Being on the water and going out on the boat keeps our entire family active. I like that instead of sitting in front of the tv, we are out swimming and playing most of the day. Evan(my almost 7 year old) managed to break his arm on the monkey bars a few weeks ago. Thankfully there is an awesome product(which I will be sharing with you soon) that helped keep his cast dry so that he could still enjoy swimming and tubing on the lake. Unfortunately he can't wakeboard or kneeboard the rest of the summer, but at least he can still get in the water.
If you enjoy going out on the boat, or are wanting to, DiscoverBoating.com has great resources and educational tools for boaters of all levels. I am so thankful that we have the boat and all of the memories that come with it. If you're thinking about it, check out this spousal conversion kit.
