Cool Kids Birthday Present Ideas

So, you have a toddler whose birthday is coming up soon...and you have run out of good ideas on what types of gifts to give. Fortunately, there are many good ideas for gifts that your little tike will just love. Toddlers tend to be incredibly creative and curious, so many times the actual presentation of the gift is even more important than the gift itself. Some toddlers even end up playing with the box or package that the gift was in! Here are some things to think about when giving your toddler a gift.

Goodie Bags:
You could really get creative with developing goodie bags for your toddler. This could be something that you end up doing or making together like decoratingan old tee shirt or even a kid-sized apron, according to the What to Expect website. When finished, put it in the goodie bag (along with whatever else strikes your fancy) and the little one will have something that is uniquely theirs. Heck, they might even enjoy decorating the gift or goodie bag itself. This also follows the general rule of having them engaged, which also makes them feel a sense of pride in their 'gift.'

Traditional and Specialized Toys:
What toddler doesn't love toys? Stuffed animals seem to be a long-time favorite, according to Parenting Magazine. This could be a large, plush Elmo doll or one of their favorite characters. It might even be something from a loved television show like a famous purple dinosaur or even a robot or toy train. Some toys that make a lot of noise are appealing to certain types of toddlers. Perhaps a toy tool set that has plastic screws and screwdrivers, hammers, drills, and maybe even a workbench. In any case, a toy is usually very well received by a toddler.

Crayon Rocks:
If you re looking for something a little different, but not different enough that your toddler would not understand the concept, try crayon rocks. These are simplynon-toxic crayons that are shaped like rocks, according to the Real Simple site. The beautiful thing is that these are over sized, so they are perfect for little hands that are just starting to develop movements and coordination. The crayon rocks are easy to use and they tend to paint in bright, vivid colors, which is perfect for a curious and playful little one eager to make their mark on the world.

Alphabet Blocks:
The alphabet blocks are a gift that both entertains and educates, according to Baby Center. Many of these types of handcrafted wooden blocks are still made in the USA. Make sure to find ones that are printed with child-safe non-toxic inks. You can usually determine which letters to buy, or the whole alphabet (or even several multiples of certain letters). Imagine the fun you and your toddler will have spelling out their name and the names of friends and other people they know?

Personalized Storybook:
You might even remember these from your youth. Yes, it is still possible to find a personalized and customized book for your child. There will usually be several options for the main storyline, but your child is guaranteed to be the hero of the book. His or her name will appear throughout the book, making them the star of their own fairy tale, pirate's journey, or princess book. Even the very youngest toddlers will enjoy hearing their own name throughout the book and then as they start learning to read, they won't be able to put it down. A great gift idea.
DIY Toys:
Another fun gift idea for a toddler might be a nice do it yourself toy. There are toys that feature different types of scenes and settings, which can then be customized by your toddler. There are jungle settings or ocean scenes. The child can change these around by stacking soft foam shapes to build their own creation. These can even include accessories like trees, flowers, ships, and a variety of animals.

Diaper Cakes:
The Honest Company suggests including some party favors for the adults as well. A great idea might be something like a diapercake. This is simply a 'cake' that is made out of stacks of diapers. Spend a little time searching and you will probably find many different options and varieties to choose. This will also allow parents to walk away from the party feeling that they got something out of it as well.

Final Word:
Finding a toddlers gift can be a challenge in many cases. Hopefully, the ideas listed above will start getting your creative juices flowing. Of course, you will also want to tailor the specific theme and gift idea to your child and his or her interests, likes, and dislikes. Let us know just how much your toddler enjoyed their special gift.

I love the crayon rocks! It's so cool that they are just the right size for a toddler's hand! I remember when my daughter was a toddler, she used to get frustrated because she couldn't really hold regular sized crayons well. This is perfect!!

Great gift ideas! Thanks for reminding me about the Crayon Rocks. I like to help my daughter come up with ideas for items to put into the pockets of her handmade Advent calendars for my 2 granddaughters. I'm going to put the Crayon Rocks on my list. :-)
