If you've been reading my blog, you know that last year we completely gutted and remodeled our house. The house had hardwood floors that we thought would simply need to be refinished. We were wrong. The previous owners had put them down over particle board - a huge no-no. We ended up ripping it all up and put down new hardwoods. Since then, my husband has been a bit obsessed with keeping it clean and hasn't found a product that he is completely happy with yet. Pledge sent us their Wood FloorCare line to test for the next 30 days as part of being a Pledge Ambassador.
With our floors being just over a year old, they are in pretty good condition. Again, my husband is obsessed with cleaning them. At first he didn't let us wear shoes inside and the kids could barely play on them. I've since convinced him that a house is to be lived in and we now allow shoes inside and the kids roll their toys around - as long as the wheels have been checked and approved by daddy. Our kitchen, living room, dining room, master bedroom, closet, vanity area, and hallway are all hardwood floors. The kids' rooms, my office, and the playroom are all carpet. The three bathrooms and laundry room are tiled. As a reminder, here are the before and after pictures of our Kitchen area. That before picture was taken the very first day we viewed this house while my dad was inspecting it. We did all of the work ourselves, so that is why my husband tries so hard to keep it looking great.
While these products say they will bring some luster back to older hardwoods, our goal is mostly maintenance. We don't want our hardwoods to get dingy, so we will be putting the Pledge Wood FloorCare line to the test. Even with cleaning them often, they have recieved a few small scratches - especially near the front door(pictured below before I even vacuumed). High traffic areas also aren't as shiny as others. I look forward to seeing how the line does on our floors.
