The Sword In The Stone 50th Anniversary Released On Blu-ray

My mom still has all of our Disney Classics on VHS at her house, but with no VHS player here, my kids almost never see them.  Disney sent us a copy of the newly released The Sword In The Stone on Blu-ray(8/6/13).  My son had seen it once at my moms years ago, but he didn't remember it and the girls had never seen it.  The quality of the Blu-ray is so fantastic compared to how the VHS is.

Take an amazing journey with a young orphan named ''Wart'' and the extraordinary wizard Merlin. According to legend, only someone with the purest character and inner strength can pull the enchanted sword from the stone and claim the throne of England. Armed with newfound confidence and the power of friendship, Wart discovers his destiny and learns the best magic is the kind you find inside yourself.

Bonus Features-
Alternate Opening A storyboard depiction of an opening sequence that would lend more plot to the film, and also a bigger role and different look for Madam Mim–as well as the Black Knight!! No one knows why the idea was scrapped, but the movie would have been very different if they’d continued with it.

Music Magic: The Sherman Brothers Robert and Richard Sherman discuss their process for writing the music and lyrics for The Sword in the Stone. They explain it first starts with an idea, and then progresses from there. This feature also includes old pictures from the studio, drawings of film characters, and short clips from the film.

All About Magic An excerpt from Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color where he performs some magic tricks and introduces viewers to the Magic Mirror from Snow White.

“A Knight for a Day” This is a short from 1947 featuring a jousting competition with a sport commentator-like feel to it.

“Brave Little Toaster” This is a short from 1938 starring Mickey Mouse in an adaptation of the fairy tale The Valiant Little Tailor.

Sing-Along Watch the film in its entirety in “sing-along” mode. Whenever a song is playing, the words are on the screen so you can follow along.

My kids adored The Sword In The Stone.  They laughed so much during the movie and asked several questions along the way.  They have watched it several times since.  I adore Disney movies and how excited my kids get about watching them - these are movies I don't mind them watching over and over.

The Wizards Duel was one of Evan's favorite parts.

It brought back so many memories to sit down and watch this with my kids - I remember watching it with my siblings.  Head to the store, grab this Blu-ray, and relive your childhood with another of Disney's classics released on Blu-ray August 6th.

Thank you to Disney who provided us with a copy of The Sword In The Stone.  This was not a paid post and all opinions are my own.

I must admit I never saw this movie. Mostly because my girls were not interested. Now that I have a boy things are changed and he wants to see it.
