To begin, the mobile is geared for the first four months with all the bells and whistles, including music, dangling animals, and a visual projection on the mobile canopy. The light also shines through the rotating canopy putting stars on the ceiling.
From 4 months and up, the mobile canopy can be removed, leaving the base on the crib to play music and project directly onto the ceiling.
It offers three different song selections with volume control. You can play the music alone, music with projection, music with projection and rotating canopy, or just music and rotating canopy. The music can also be muted.
After 18 months (or sooner depending on your baby), the base can be used as a starry night-light and music box.
Assembly was relatively straightforward. The mobile requires 4 C batteries, not included. The only thing I would have liked to see is a timer to avoid having to manually turn it off every time.
Still, since bath time is always crazy at our house with 4 littles running around, it's been wonderful to occupy the Adalee in her crib with the Magical Night mobile.
