Handmade Gift Idea - Handprint/Footprint Santa, Reindeer, & Christmas Tree Coffee Mug

I know that Christmas is over, but these turned out too cute not to share.  I plan on making an insert for most holidays/seasons.  I bought several coffee mugs that you can decorate inserts for at the dollar store last year and never used them.  I later found larger, name brand mugs(pictured below) on clearance for $4 at Target.

Each year we try to do some handmade gifts for my parents and aunts(and Daddy and I!).  I scoured the internet for hand/footprint ideas.  I chose Santa for Evan's hand, A reindeer for Isabella's hand, and a Christmas tree for Kallie Jane's foot(I thought it would be too easy to mess up a handprint with a baby).

I used green scrapbook paper and cut it out to match the sizes I would need.  I painted their hands/feet the color needed and gently placed them on paper.  I then added a white dot on Santa's hat, a red dot for the Reindeer nose, 3 differe dots in the antlers for lights, and a start at the top of the tree.  Once it dried, I used a sharpie to draw santa's face, the reindeer's face, Christmas lights, outline the star, and write their names and the date.

I then went through and put dots on the Christmas tree for lights and laminated the pages so that they would survive if they got wet.

As I mentioned above, I plan to do this for each season this year, so stay tuned!

I love handprint gifts! They are so cute and remind you of how little the kids were at different stages. I need to make one of these for my hubby to take to work!

These came out looking great! I would like to try making some as Easter gifts. Everybody can use a coffee mug, so it's useful too! Thanks!

What a great idea! I was actually browsing the internet trying to come up with a new and different craft project that my kids can do for Easter for their grandparents. This fits the criteria for sure. Thanks for sharing!
