Kitchen Remodel Progress Update

I posted about the issues that we've run into with our remodel yesterday. We closed on our house almost two weeks ago, but with every room needing work(some more than others), demo has taken a while. I will start writing progress posts for each room. We are much further along in some rooms than others. This was my kitchen when I first saw it. I know, blah, right? Well, I saw the potential!

The first day we spent in other rooms ripping out carpet and taking down wallpaper. The next day, we took everything in the kitchen out. We saved the butcher block island top to make a bar for the covered part of our deck.

All torn out.

This past weekend we tore the floors up that the previous owner had pretty much destroyed.

We had a Sheetrock guy come this week and our walls are back up!  Since this picture, all the rooms in the house have had new Sheetrock or have been skimmed and look AMAZING!  They also fixed the ceiling where those Styrofoam beams were - I just forgot to take a picture.  Yesterday we worked on painting the crown molding and baseboards while the Sheetrock guys finished up inside.  Today they will do the final touch ups and tomorrow they will finish sanding.

My husband had to go to work today, so the kids and I are taking a break(we will be in the pool if you need us).  My husband works tomorrow too, but the rest of us will go up there to get back to work.  We will take up the subflooring and put more down, then we can start painting and put the new hardwoods down. After that is done, the boys will build our cabinets and island.  It is starting to really come together.  Stay tuned for another room update!

Whoa! I would be SO afraid to take on a remodel like this one. LOL I can deal with wallpaper and maybe carpet. I would have a heart attack to watch my hubby do something this big. HA! Can't wait to see the finished product!!!
