Baby Must-Haves - Fisher-Price My Little Snugabunny™ Newborn Rock n' Play™ Sleeper + Giveaway

After having three babies, I have gone through my fair share of baby gear. With all of the different products on the market, pregnant moms are always at a loss over what the "baby must-haves" are. Fisher-Price asked hundreds of moms on BabyCenter.com to discuss their favorite products for baby’s first year. From that conversation, they came up with a top 10 list. The only item on that list that I had never had experience with was the Fisher-Price My Little Snugabunny™ Newborn Rock n' Play™ Sleeper.

What makes this seat perfect for newborns is that it’s extra deep with a structured insert that surrounds them in comfort and makes them feel secure. The seat is also inclined, which makes napping more comfortable for babies who need their heads elevated. And with help from mom, baby can rock the day away—soothe, nap or play! Other features include three-point restraint to keep baby secure, a toy bunny for soothing & entertaining, and a washable insert for comfort and support. Plus it’s very lightweight, so it’s easy to move around the house.

To be honest, I really didn't think that this would turn into a "must-have" for us. I have several products where the baby is in a similar position and I thought the Rock n' Play Sleeper wouldn't make a difference. I was wrong. This thing is amazing! Even though I was skeptical, I put her in it while making dinner. When I was holding her, she was a little fussy. I placed her in the Rock n' Play and she almost immediately got quiet. I started dinner and looked over to see this - she was asleep and smiling!

Don't get me wrong, Kallie Jane is a fantastic baby and is usually pretty good when sitting anywhere, but she never falls asleep as fast as she does in the My Little Snugabunny™ Newborn Rock n' Play™ Sleeper. She has often been a little fussy while sitting on something else and we've put her in the sleeper, rocked it a few times, and she gets quiet and/or falls asleep. She even likes the little rattle that comes with it. We'll hold it up in front of her and shake it. When we move it side to side she'll follow it with her eyes and usually flash us a huge toothless grin. Before I know it she will be holding the rattle herself. It attaches to the three point harness(that I didn't use in the first picture)so baby always has it close or it can be taken off.

One of my favorite features is that the insert is washable so it is easy to clean when she has those blowouts. Kallie Jane has horrible reflux and is on medication to keep it under control, but the inline of the Rock n' Play is perfect for her. I have no clue if this is what it is for, but there is also a little pouch in the back that I can put a burp cloth, paci, or bib if I need them.  The only thing that would make this product better is if it could rock itself.  I'm usually rocking it with my foot while cooking dinner.

I actually take it with me when I go to my mom's house or somewhere that I know she'll be sleeping. It is so easy to fold flat and is incredibly light. I also take it all over the house with me.

Most of my "First Year Must-Haves" happen to be Fisher-Price products. This jumperoo has been through my first two kids and soon Kallie Jane will get to use it. It allowed me plenty of hands free time so that I could clean, cook, or take a shower. Here is Evan at 3 months.  They jumped so much that I have pictures of both of them fast asleep in it.

As we all know, every baby is different and likes different products more than others. With Evan, this crib toy was a life saver. He didn't sleep through the night until he was 4 months old and it was all thanks to this. If he woke up, we'd go in and turn it on and he'd go right back to sleep. He soon learned to do it himself and at 4 years old, he still sleeps with it! It sits propped up right next to his pillow. Some kids have favorite stuffed animals or blankets - Evan has his crib toy. He can and does sleep without it when we're on trips now that he's older, but at home he still turns it on every night.
