Sesame Street: Once Upon A Monster + Xbox 360 & Kinect Sensor

My husband has been whispering in my ear about getting an Xbox 360 for months. He kept telling me that the kids would really enjoy it(AKA-he really wants one). Thanks to Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment we were sent an Xbox 360 and Kinect Sensor to use with their new game, Sesame Street: Once Upon A Monster to see how the kids would really interact with the console.

Join your favorite Sesame Street characters and friendly new monsters in a storybook adventure filled with discovery, learning and fun! Each chapter is full of life lessons, including friendship, sharing and teamwork. Kids can play alone, with each other or with Mom or Dad in this controller-free gaming experience. The game was developed by award-winning developer, Double Fine Productions, exclusively for Kinect for Xbox 360 and is rated ‘E’ for Everyone.
Needless to say, there was a lot of excitement the night this arrived. Evan was excited to have his own game and Isabella immediately recognized the characters from Sesame Street. Since this was our first experience with Xbox 360 and the Kinect, we had a little bit of a learning curve. Evan quickly caught on and was able to play right along with the characters.

Cookie Monster and Elmo took over the screen and helped guide Evan through their storybook - Once Upon A Monster. As Evan turned the pages of the book, he encountered several different monsters that each led him on a new adventure. He had an absolute blast with the different mini games and the characters reinforced many important life lessons.

The graphics were unbelievable and made me feel as if we were in the book along with the Sesame Street gang. The game had us up and active the whole time which is perfect for those boring cold or rainy days when kids need to burn some energy.  I get bored quickly with most of our kids' video games, but this had me up and playing right along with them.

On November 22, 2011, Warner Bros will be releasing downloadable content for Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 400 Microsoft Points. Unidentified Furry Objects is designed as a new chapter in the game’s whimsical storybook adventure where young players join Cookie Monster, Elmo and other Sesame Street characters as they explore a living storybook titled Once Upon a Monster. In the chapter, a mysterious light falls from the night sky and the monsters are visited by some very strange furry visitors.

Visit Once Upon A Monster to learn more about the game and to view videos.

My son-in-law has been dropping hints for the XBox 360 for Christmas. If she gets it for him I'll have to tell her about this cute Sesame Street game for my granddaughter. I know she'll love it. My daughter & her brother grew up watching & learning from these fun Sesame Street characters. :-)
