The Lion King: Diamond Edition Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack Released 10/4 + Giveaway

My husband has been anxiously waiting to introduce Evan to The Lion King. It was one of his favorites when he was younger and he knew that Evan would like it too. After several months of waiting, The Lion King: Diamond Edition Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack was released today, October 4, 2011. This has been the first time that it has been available in any form since 2004.

An unforgettable story, breathtaking animation, beloved characters and award-winning music sets the stage for “The Lion King”, a Disney classic that follows the adventures of Simba, the feisty lion cub who “just can’t wait to be king.” But his envious Uncle Scar has plans for his own ascent to the throne, and he forces Simba’s exile from the kingdom. Alone and adrift, Simba soon joins the escapades of a hilarious meerkat named Timon and his warmhearted warthog pal, Pumbaa. Adopting their carefree lifestyle of “Hakuna Matata,” Simba ignores his real responsibilities until he realizes his destiny and returns to the Pride Lands to claim his place in the “Circle of Life.”

I'm pretty sure that my husband was just excited to watch The Lion King as my son was. Isabella isn't much into watching TV, but she sat down and laughed right along with Evan - especially when Timon and Pumbaa were on the screen. They've both asked to watch the Lion movie several times. The quality is absolutely amazing - I still can't believe how much better it is than the old VHS that we had.


The bonus features were fantastic. The bloopers were our family's favorite and they had my kids rolling on the floor laughing. Isabella may not be much into watching movies, but she adores music. She had fun with the sing along feature and danced to the deleted song.  I always enjoy seeing what goes on "behind the scenes". Here is some of the concept art.
