And Now We Wait...Again

I am so extremely tired of waiting. I think thats the hardest part of all of this - being in the dark and always waiting. Thank you all for the amazing emails and comments I received - I will be emailing back, but it will probably be Monday. Yall are truly amazing and I am thrilled to have you behind my mom.  I have a few minutes so I wanted to pop on and give an update.

My mom had surgery yesterday to remove cancer and the doctor had to cut a bit more than they had originally anticipated, but we were fine with whatever they had to do. They also had to do another procedure while in there and my mom was/is in a lot of pain to say the least. She is on IV pain meds as well as by mouth.

The doctor told us that on the outside, the parts he put back together were negative for cancer so at least we know that part is now cancer free. The inside and other tissues and things from the other procedure have been sent off and we are left to wait another 4 or so days until we hear back if that has any cancer that they think may be still inside of her.

If they got it all and the insides of what he cut and other tissue have no cancer, then that will be the end of it! I'm praying that is the case and there is absolutely nothing left. He did say that with the type she has, it tends to come back. I asked for a percentage and he came up with 30%, so I'm feeling pretty positive about that number!  IF it comes back then she'll have to do this all over again. She goes back every few months to check.

She was in hopes to go home today, but the doctor told her this morning that it is looking more like Monday. She pleaded with him and he may let her go home tomorrow. Last night they got her to stand and the pain got to her. Today she has walked a loop twice and I am so proud of her! I wish that I could take some of the pain away for myself so that she didn't have to endure all of it by herself.  As a daughter, its is so hard to see my mom - one of the strongest people I know - in so much pain.

I will definitely be telling her that yall said she looked like my sister - it will make her day! :) For those of you that asked, I'm 25 and my mom is 46.

I'm glad to see she is doing so well today! Your mom is close in age like mine. I'm 29 and my Mom is 48. It makes for close friends!

Your mom is closer to my age, than I am to yours. You are both in my thoughts and prayers. Sounds like shes a fighter!

I hope the meds are helping her and that she gets to sneak out a day or two earlier than the latest plan.

There is nothing worse than seeing those you love in pain.

(PS My mom and I are the same age difference apart...people often asked if she was my sister!)

I'm so sorry. I watched my mom go through a surgery for cancer, and I watched her go through treatments... it as the hardest thing I've endured so far in this lifetime. My mom passed away in 2006, I will be praying for a clean bill of health for your mom so you can all move past this. :)

I hope and pray that the doctors were able to get all the cancer and that she will be home free for a long time. It is always awful to watch our loved ones suffer. I know she's glad to have you around.

Wow, I'm only a few years younger than your mom. So scary. Don't worry about emailing me back, for sure. You have plenty on your plate. I hope your mom begins to feel better and her healing goes well.

Awww! I'm a new follower. My family is going through a fight of cancer with my dad. He's young like your mom (49), and has terminal brain cancer. It is hard, but keep your head up, stay positive and keep smiling. Hugs for you and your mom!
