Parenting Questions Answered - Where Do Babies Come From

With my oldest only being 3 1/2, we've never really talked about where babies come from. He knew that Isabella was in my tummy when I was pregnant, but that was about it.

The other day he was watching a Nickelodeon Brothers And Sisters movie. He looked at me and told me he wanted to go buy another baby. I asked him where you buy them at and he answered, "McDonald's". I just laughed and said we'd have to ask Daddy. Daddy was thrilled that we could possibly order one from the dollar menu.

I'm sure it will be a long time until we have to deal with the 'where babies come from talk'. For now, I'm letting him think you can buy them at McDonald's. Do your kids have their own theories of where they come from?

Lol! That is too funny. I'm trying to remember what my 6 yr old said whenever I was pregnant w/her little sister.

That's too cute! My 3 year old says that we get babies from the dr. She remembers us bringing home her brother and says the dr gave him to us. :)

Gotta love children and their understanding and expressions! We are visibly pregnant right now :-) and my 3 year old son asked, "Is the baby gonna fall out of your tummy?" I said..."basically, yes". Wondering when he's gonna want more details, but glad to be in the innocent phase just yet.

My daughter has asked before and I said they are from God. Simple answer!

Love the cartoon :) If it were only that simple!

Our younger kids know that they grow in my belly and that the doctor gets them out. they haven't asked too deeply about how they get IN there. I just say God put them in there when a mommy and daddy love each other. :) Later they figure out other people get pregnant and then start wondering how that happened when they aren't married. haha One step at a time!

I'm expecting right now and my four year old is very interested in how that baby got in there!

He knows that the Dr takes the baby out through a booboo on Mommy's tummy (He remembers vaguely my last C-section) so we don't have to go into much more than that about how they get out.

I like the idea of telling him God put the baby in there, right now his theory is that Daddy somehow cut me to put it in there to grow! (Since the Dr cut me to get it out!)

We have debated that question only slightly, my son thinks that the Dr puts them there (and has actually requested that I go back to the Dr to get another put in there!)
My son (when potty training) asked why I did not have his male parts, I simply paused and he quickly said "Its because you have a big butt right Mom?" I only laughed but a year later it still has stuck....(he claimed my butt was big b/c I couldn't sit on his small training potty!)

I just had my third baby a month ago, my 4 year old asked me how I got a baby in my tummy. The first few times I changed the subject like I didn't hear her so I could do some research on what to tell her lol. When she asked again I said that daddy put a seed in my tummy and mommy has to eat lots of food and drink a lot of water for it to grow, just like in the garden. She said OH! But how did dad put it there? I said, With his love.... That was the best that had! :)

I let Tristan have his own theories on anything. He's never asked about babies but if he says something is pizza that isn't, it can be pizza.

Oh boy, my stepdaughter has two little sisters and luckily her mother breached that one for me. She knows Daddy's put them in Mommy's bellies, and that they grow big and then come out. I'm ok without the gory details for now.

It's so nice when they're young like that, and you can get away with simple answers. Just you wait...

that is so funny!! My 3 yo daughter knows they come from mommy's belly and the doctor cuts them out (I had a c section in December) but so far, that is as far as we have gone :)

I am pretty sure they don't come on the dollar menu! I bet they cost the same as one of those speciality burgers.

Hahahaha! I love how smart and funny kids are. Mine are too little to think about those things....

LOL! I have no idea what my husband and I will do when the twins ask that question. Maybe I'll use the McDonald's idea.
