"Hey, what are yall doing?"
"We're eating dinner."
"When you get done, can you come down here?"
"Just come see me."
I immediately start freaking out as I hang up the phone. My parents only live about 20 minutes away, but for her to want us to come over at 6:30 at night, I knew that it couldn't be good.
We drive the 20 minutes as my mind goes over all sorts of horrible scenarios. We get to their house and mom is the only one there. My dad is at work, my brother is at work(he's 19), and my sister is still doing something at school(she's 13). I run through the door.
"Why do you think something is wrong?"
"Why else would you ask us to come over at 6:30 at night?"
"I have cancer."
Last week I found out my mom - my best friend - has cancer. As of this morning, we know nothing other than the fact that she will have to go through surgery for the type that she has. This morning we are at the cancer center having all sorts of tests to see if it has spread. I can't let my mind go there and am only praying for the best results possible.
Best case scenario - surgery will be awful for her, but much better than the alternative. Recovery will be hard and she will have to go in often to make sure it hasn't come back. I'm asking any of you that pray to please send some prayers up for my Momma. Pray that it has not spread and that surgery will be all that is needed to take care of it and that she will be OK.
Obviously, I am not sure how much I'll be around as my priorities are with my family, but I appreciate any prayers that we can get.
