Magellan RoadMate 3065 Vehicle Navigation GPS

Its no secret around here that I have a bad sense of direction. I could get lost in a paper bag and as a result, I don't like driving in new places. We often tag along with my husband on business trips, but I stay close to the hotel while he's working so that I don't get lost and then panic. I have no idea why we didn't get a GPS earlier, but thankfully Magellan sent us their RoadMate 3065 Vehicle Navigation GPS.

  • Automatically receive traffic alerts with Traffic Wakeup.
  • Hands-free calling with advanced Bluetooth technology
  • Free Lifetime Traffic alerts.
  • Extra-large 4.7" screen with maps of the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Features:
-Traffic Wakeup automatically powers on your GPS device and provides real-time traffic updates when you want them. Get traffic information in the morning before you start your daily journey.

-Enjoy hands-free calling and a noise-cancelling microphone with our advanced Bluetooth technology. Making great sounding calls from your GPS navigator is now easier than ever.

-The OneTouch favorites menu lets you bookmark your favorite destinations and searches. Find your favorites anywhere you travel. With a single touch, find your favorite café or restaurant when traveling within any city.

-Free Lifetime Traffic provides real-time traffic information. Avoid traffic jams, detours and construction zones. No subscription-fees ever!

-Highway Lane Assist shows realistic highway signs to guide you and ensure that you'll choose the correct lane when approaching an upcoming interchange or exit.

-Only Magellan products include the built-in AAA TourBook® guides for US and Canada. This Magellan-exclusive feature gives you ratings and descriptions on AAA-approved places to stay, play, dine, and save.

-The unique, extra-large 4.7" screen provides maps and POI information on an easy-to-read screen that is 17% larger than a standard 4.3" screen.

-Easily keep your eyes on the road as you drive because spoken street name guidance announces the street name and direction of each turn. -Periodic Reporting provides detailed reporting to track your mileage for expense reports and tax purposes.

-QuickSpell quickly narrows your address and city searches, as you type, making destination entry easy. Find cities and streets without worrying about misspelling them.

-You're always ready to travel with preloaded maps and points of interest for United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

-Find over 6 million of points of interest at your command and easily locate gas stations, restaurants, ATMs, coffee shops, and much more. Even search for gas stations, restaurants, or lodging, near upcoming highway exits.

-Multi-destination routing lets you plan your trip with multiple stops in the order you want or automatically optimize for the most efficient route, helping save time and money.

Our Thoughts:
I haven't been out of town yet, but after using my GPS several times, I feel confident that I'll never get lost again!  Getting started was extremely easy, I simply plugged it into the outlet, attached it to my windshield and turned it on.

Once I'm at the menu screen, I have a bunch of options to choose from.  The AAA Tour book is by far my favorite feature, and you don't have to be a member to access it.  I have found several restaurants that I didn't even know existed!  It even has them categorized by type(Chinese, Mexican, etc).  It also has every other type of place you could think of-all you have to do is go to the menu and look up those types of establishments and it will provide you with a large list of anything close to you.  If you click on it, the Magellan will give you directions on how to get there.  When we're traveling, all I have to do is look up the type of place that I'm looking for and my Magellan will get me there without getting lost and panicking.

If you know the address of where you are going, just type it in.  Once you start typing in the first few letters, the Magella will recognize what you're doing and show you all the options of Cities, roads, etc with those letters.  I'm not always the best at spelling roads I'm not familiar with, so that feature is a definite plus.

The Magellan RoadMate 3065 really  has more features than I could possibly list.  It seems like I'm always finding out it did something that I didn't realize before.  As a Stay-At-Home-Mom, I don't usually need the morning traffic updates, but I am so thankful that it is an option if needed.  The only thing I don't like about this feature is that it has to be fully charged to give you your updates.  If I'm not parked in our garage, I'm not leaving this GPS in my car overnight, and sometimes it isn't fully charged.

The Bluetooth capabilities are fantastic.  I never even know a GPS could pair up with my phone.  It takes a few minutes to get started, but then you can even download your contacts into it!  I also like that if I deviate from the route, it doesn't annoyingly keep telling me that I did.  It just readjusts and tells me another way to get there from the direction I'm going.  Another thing that I couldn't help but laugh at, is that at night the background is black instead of the usual green(because it is dark out).

The Magellan RoadMate 3065 Vehicle Navigation GPS would make an awesome gift for anyone that drives-especially any new drivers on your list.  Be sure to visit Magellan to learn more and view their other products for more gift giving ideas.

I love the traffic updating it does. I also like the BlueTooth built-in because in our area we have to use hands-free while in the car so having it built-in to the GPS would be good.

My husband could use one of these. He is always getting lost and refuses to ask for directions. It has lots of great features too. Maybe I'll get him one for Christmas.

I like how large it is. My husband could use this, as he is always meeting new clients in the town north of us. Don't tell him I said this...but he's always getting lost!

I really like the Traffic Wakeup feature. The GPS we have now, doesn't have this neat feature.

Oh my gosh, this sounds like the smartest gadget ever! I would love to have this in my car. The best benefit being subscription free!

I really need one of these! Not that I drive a lot, but when I do, I get lost easily. I'm horrible with directions! And, I like the idea of spoken street name guidance. I can't afford to take my eyes of the road for a minute with my little guy in the car.

Wow, this is completely different from what my daughter has on her car. This is how I would expect the GPS to be. I often get lost and this would be the perfect thing to have in the car, especially since gas is so high and I sometimes find myself driving thinking I will see a landmark and 30 minutes later, well you know the story. Love to see that they do have very modern and easy to use systems out there.

WOW... the features this has is amazing. I love the touch screen and the noise elimination to make phone calls easier. Also the AAA points of interest is so cool! This would make a wonderful gift for my husband when he is making deliveries.

Great especially if you travel a lot or just to use in your home town to navigate new areas or find places you've not been to before. Great for locating unfamiliar places and finding the closest eating places. joycemlinek@yahoo.com

OMG!!!! Can I PLEASE have this for Christmas??? Pretty please! I love a road trip. I will pack us up and get in the van and go! I'd much rather do that than receive material things that I probably won't use much and will just take up space. Normally I get directions online and print them out. They have been accurate all but once. It is a pain to be driving in the dark, trying to locate the paper with directions that's now covered with junk, and read & drive at the same time. This joker talks to you, tells you what side to be on (unlike my paper...lol), and can even suggest places to go eat, etc. Oh yeah! It rocks! Now can I PLEASE have this for Christmas. i'll take it out of town and give you a review on how well it does. LOL And to think all I wish going to ask for Christmas was some photo albums....someone is in for it now. LOL

This would be great for all the times I forget to Mapquest directions or think I already know the way only to find out I was wrong or my husband was wrong I wished I had gotten directions before we left the house.

Oh I love it! I'm looking for a good GPS for my husband. He travels for work often to different places and we always have to print directions. It would be so much easier to just listen and drive, rather than fumble around for papers and swerve all over the place while you're trying to read and drive at the same time!

I like that this gps has six million points of interest wow!

This sounds like the Cadillac of GPS units. I know my Garmin doesn't do all of the things you described. The best feature I heard about was the bluetooth capability. Right now, I need a separate bluetooth unit to broadcast calls on speaker in the car. What a perfect way to cut down on clutter on my dash.

I appreciate the review... this looks so user friendly. I was going to by a different brand as I get lost in my hometown often... I think I could get lost going to the kitchen some days. I really appreciate the review as it has shown me some features that I wasn't taking into consideration when making a choice on this product. thank you.
