The Land Of Nod has an awesome selection of educational toys and other products. The Land Of Nod was founded in 1995 by Scott Eirinberg and Jamie Cohen in the basement of Eirinberg’s house. They started with the idea of bringing high-quality kids furnishings to parents who wanted something different for their children’s rooms and playrooms. They have since grown and later partnered with Crate And Barrel which allowed them to open their first store in 2002 in Northbrook, Illinois. In addition to specializing in exclusive children’s furniture, bedding, playrooms, and accessories, The Land of Nod also carries popular baby gear brands in strollers, car seats, clothing, toys, and much more. At The Land of Nod, you’ll basically find everything for your kids from A to ZZZ.
The Land Of Nod sent us a huge selection to choose from, but I have been wanting a high quality ABC puzzle to help Evan with letter recognition so I chose the Take A Letter Puzzle.
Take a letter, little one. No really, go ahead. Take a whole bunch of them. And then put them back. It's a great way to learn the alphabet plus develop hand-eye coordination.
- French design
- Water based paint
- Wood construction
- 3 and up
Evan turned 3 in August and has just started showing a real interest in puzzles. I knew that he would be excited about having another puzzle to play with. In addition to the game factor of finding the right space for each letter, it also teaches letter recognition.
We can take each letter out and talk about what it is and then put it back. To put it back he has to be able to recognize the shape of the letter we're looking for. He knows his colors already, but Isabella is normally watching us play so we also talk about the color too so that she might catch on. The puzzle pieces are color coordinated with the slots-for example, if a piece is red, it slot is red.
The quality is fantastic and I look forward to having my kids play with this puzzle for years to come. My only problem with it is that the slots are way too big for the letter so the pieces don't fit in the puzzle snugly. You have to store it in the box or the pieces will fall right off. The "Take A Letter" puzzle would make a great gift for any preschooler. Be sure to visit The Land Of Nod to view their full selection of products.
