Halloween Edible Craft - Wilton Pre-Baked Halloween Cookie House Kit

As my kids get older, we are able to do more and more fun projects together. Wilton has provided me with so many tools to decorate edible "crafts" with my family. They recently sent us the Pre-Baked Halloween Cookie House Kit and I couldn't wait to try it out.

Easy to assemble and fun to decorate—it’s the ideal family activity for Halloween. Includes 10 pre-baked gingerbread house pieces (assembled house measures 7 ¾ x 4 x 8 ½ in. high), orange and black decorating icing mixes, 1 ghost icing decoration, colorful candy (purple and orange mini round candies, jelly beans and candy corn), 2 decorating tips, 2 disposable decorating bags, cardboard base, complete assembly and decorating instructions.

The kit contains everything we needed to make our haunted house.  These are the pre-baked gingerbread pieces.  They smelled so good!  As with any baked item, the edges weren't as straight as they needed to be.  I used a ruler and sharp knife to make them as straight as possible.

It comes with black and orange icing.  You simply add water to a powdered mix.  It is supposed to have a toothpaste-like consistency, but I think the directions call for too much water.  I ended up having to add a lot of powdered sugar to make it thicker.  I only added just over a tablespoon to the orange and it was perfect.

When you're ready to decorate, you put the base together and let it sit for an hour to make sure it is stable.
This is the candy that is included to decorate the house with.

After it was ready, we started to decorate.  I did it at my mom's house so my 13 year old sister could help out too.  I started to make it "pretty", but then Evan really got into it and so I let him go.  I think his version looked amazing!  Here are a few shots from our fun.

I turned it around and let my sister and Evan do whatever they wanted.  I didn't even worry about windows or anything.

This is our finished product.  Not bad, huh?

This Haunted House would be so much fun for kids of all ages.  My 3 year old son and 13 year old sister equally enjoyed it.  I highly recommend this as a fun project for the whole family.

Stay tuned for a giveaway of this kit and more Wilton Halloween items coming *really* soon!

This was not a paid post and honest opinions were used.  The opinions are solely my own and may vary from others.  Thank you to Wilton who supplied the product for review.
