George Foreman Evolve™ Grill - Bake - Mini-Burger Review + Recipes

I'm sure all of you have heard about George Foreman by now. We got ours as a wedding present almost 5 years ago and I honestly haven't used it very much. I've always thought it was a pain to clean because the grill plates didn't come off.



I was recently introduced to The Evolve™ Grill • Bake • Mini-Burger and I am now a huge George Foreman fan. The plates actually come off so that clean up is a breeze and it does more than just grill!

I'll be honest-I was completely heartbroken when this arrived. When told about this campaign, I thought I was going to get the Grill-Bake-Muffin Evolve Grill. I was excited to use the muffin pan. It doesn't have one-that is a different starter set. I've seen several reviews stating that this pan pictured below on the side is a muffin pan. It isn't. This, my friends, is what they call a slider plate(mini burger insert).



I'm sure you've seen many reviews where they've mistaken this for a muffin pan, but it isn't. You're supposed to put hamburger(or turkey) meat in there to form mini-burgers. I'm not sure how much use I'll get out of it because I like big hamburger patties. I'll have to get some mini buns eventually and try it out, but I'm a fan of BIG juicy hamburgers.

I can still purchase the muffin pan separately, which I will be doing soon. I love making different muffins in smaller batches for breakfast and using the George Foreman Evolve grill would make it where I don't have to use my oven. There are several other plates that you can also purchase such as the waffle plates. I have a separate waffle maker and purchasing the waffle plates for the evolve grill would allow me to get rid of it to take up less room in my pantry. These are all of the plates that are available:

This is what The Evolve Grill looks like when no plates are attached. It is incredibly easy to put the plates that you are going to use on the grill.


I have only had the grill a few weeks and have used it several times. It is still hot here, and I thought I would try the lasagna idea that was included with the deep dish baking plate so that I wouldn't have to use my oven. The recipe was for a spinach lasagna, so I changed it where my picky eaters would like it. I made sure that the tilt was off and that it was a flat surface before putting my deep dish plate in there.


Here is my adapted recipe:
1 egg
1 lb. ricotta cheese
2 1/4 shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese(I used Parmesan cheese from the bottle)
6 Lasagna Noodles(already cooked)
1 jar pasta sauce
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 pound hamburger meat(cooked and drained)



-In medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, 1/4 Parmesan cheese, and salt.
-Spread 1/2 cup(or a little more) marinara sauce in ungreased deep dish bake plate(enough to cover the bottom). Top with 3 noodles. Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles. Sprinkle 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, half of hamburger meat, and 1/2 cup marinara sauce. Repeate layering Pasta, cheese, meat, and sauce.
-Place deep dish bake plate onto bottom of grill. Close lid.
-Set bake time for 20 minutes and temperature for 375. Bake until hot and cheese is melted and golden.
-Using pot holders, remove bake plate from grill and place on heat-resistant surface(I used a wire rack).
Makes 6-8 servings.

This was a huge hit and was extremely easy to make. I plan on making it again this week. When I looked at the deep dish plate, I was worried that it wouldn't be enough to feed us, but this recipe was enough to feed my family of 4 and there were left overs! I've used my George Foreman so much that I haven't even had time to put it up yet. Every time I go to put it up, I make something else.

The tilt lever is in the bottom corner. When making things in my deep dish plate, I need to make sure that the grill is flat. If I'm grilling something, the grill needs to tilt forward to drain all of the fat out.


I have also grilled many things, especially chicken. Simply set the grill to the temperature and time that I want it to be at(the manual tells you what to do with different types of meat).


If I ever lose that book, there is a quick guide of times and temperatures on the top of the grill.


The drip tray catches all of the fat and grease so that grilling is even more healthy.


If you've never made a panini, you're missing out! They're so easy to make and there are hundreds of choices that you can use to make them. We usually make several different kinds and cut them into halves or quarters to mix and share them. I often put eggplant on mine, but my husband is not a fan so I didn't put it on them this time. My favorite panini ingredient is apples. It adds a tasty crunch that can't be beat.


The Evolve Grill will do two at a time. I put them in there for about 2 minutes or until the cheese melts.


A panini only takes a few seconds to make and is really good. This is the one that I made for me. It has turkey, ham, provolone cheese, tomatoes, and apple slices. Like I said, you can put any combination of ingredients that you want on them.


My whole family has fallen in love with the George Foreman because of all of the things I've made with it. I've been making more of their favorites(the lasagna and panini) because it is easier for me to prep and clean. When I'm done using the Evolve grill, I just take the plates off and wash them in warm water. After I purchase the muffin and waffle pans that I want, it will be perfect for our family.

I made sliders in mine and they were a hit with my kids! I found the mini buns by the deli at my Jewel grocery store. (You can see my review with pics on my blog)

for the sliders just use dinner rolls from the bread aisle - the special "slider" rolls are way too expensive. The dinner rolls work great. I don't have this particular George Forman grill but we've made mock white castle sliders a few times using the dinner rolls and everyone has been very happy.

This looks amazing. I really wish I hadn't read this when I was hungry. Lol. I think my hubby and dad would both love this. I am definitely putting this on their Christmas lists. They like to dabble in cooking and grilling and this seems like the best of both worlds.
