The Cat In The Hat Knows a Lot About That! - Wings and Things DVD

I remember reading Dr. Seuss books when I was little. I specifically remember my baby sister memorizing one of the Dr. Seuss books and reading it over and over again when she was really young(maybe 5). The Cat In The Hat is one of those characters that pretty much every child recognizes.

The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!
is the first and only episodic program featuring Dr. Seuss characters. The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! features Martin Short as the voice of The Cat. The series introduces preschoolers to core science concepts and vocabulary in a zany, whimsical Seussian style! Want to know how bees make honey? How about who lives in the Rainforest? Or why owls sleep in the day? Hop in the thing-a-majigger and let’s go-go-go-go on an adventure to find out!

The series began airing on PBS nationally on September 6 and the first DVD, called The Cat In The Hat Knows A Lot About That! - Wings and Things, hit streets on September 7.

Wings and Things synopsis:

“Zoom up and away in the Thinga-ma-jigger! The Cat in the Hat is always ready to help his friends explore the world. Why, you ask? Well, because The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That™, of course! When Sally and Nick need help with a song, Humphrey the Humpback Whale teaches them how whales make beautiful music. And when Sally wants to pick flowers for her mom, The Cat and his friends travel to the rain forest to meet different creatures that all depend on flowers to live. Just as Dr. Seuss helped generations of children to read, The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That™ encourages your little one to explore natural science!”

Why do birds migrate? Why do some animals sleep during the day and wake up at night? And where does honey come from? Those are just a few of Sally and Nick's questions about nature. Luckily, The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About…That! As he takes his young friends exploring all around the world, The Cat in the Hat helps teach about bees, birds, and other critters. From the beach to the skies, The Cat in the Hat shows how it's perfectly natural to explore the world. Just as Dr. Seuss helped generations of children to read, The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That DVDs allow young ones to explore nature and science!

I was pretty curious to see how Evan would react to The Cat In The Hat. The cover appealed to him and he was excited to watch it. The DVD has an approximate run time of 60 minutes and he watched most of it before losing interest. He has asked to watch it a few times since, but it isn't one of his top favorite movies. As always, The Cat In The Hat is pretty quirky and entertaining for young children. I also love that it teaches Evan to explore the world around him and to think outside of the box.
