Pregnancy Questions Answered - The Pregnancy Test

I just saw a movie where someone took a ton of pregnancy test and I had to laugh. I was a little addicted to pregnancy tests myself. I took at least 3(or maybe more :)) with each baby before I "believed" that I was pregnant.

So I'm curious:
How many pregnancy tests did you take before you "believed" it.

I took one test, thought about taking a second but heard the baby's heart beat 2 weeks later at my first midwife appointment, so there was no need to

I think it was two for both of the kids.

Let's see...I think I took a total of 6. The first one I took at 4 am so I wasn't sure I was dreaming it. The others, well I just couldn't believe it was positive. They were dollar store tests so I had to make sure. lol

Probably around 8 with my first kid. Mine were also dollar store tests, so I didn't mind taking that many :) And, incidentally, the dollar store tests were positive before the more expensive ones!

I only took 1 at home with each one.

@Carrie- Mine did the SAME thing! a cheapo $1 dollar store test showed up so early the docs tested my levels and told me it was still showing my miscarriage from the previous month- but it was really daughter #2! :-)
(I take too many test to count- I literally keep a box of the $1 at home- I'm obsessed! haha)

With my first I had to take two cause the first one was a dud. It showed no lines. With the second I took one but knew I was preggo cause of morning sickness. With this one, it was a surprise, I knew I was preggo when I couldn't stay up past 9:30 no matter how hard I tried. I am a sleeper during my first trimester. I took a blue test and it said negative at 5 weeks. I knew it was wrong so two days later I bought a two pack and both were really fast positives. So with my third, I took three tests.

One. Each month for three months. I am very irregular when not on birth control, so I'd have to take a test to see if it was me or a baby. The third one I took, not because I thought I was pregnant, but because I thought I wasn't and needed confirmation. But as soon as I took it and it started "thinking", I knew. It was one of those digital ones, I think Clearblue Easy? That say "pregnant" or "not pregnant". But I only took the one because I've learned that they are actually really pretty reliable now, and if it says you're pregnant, most of the time it's true.

I took 3 with my first pregnancy and 6 with my second pregnancy! I saved them for awhile.. until several months into each pregnancy.

I took one for each; those bad boys are pricey! Then I went in for blood work, of course we were on military bases for each kid, so I could go in for anything and it was free.

2 with Tristan, 1 with Isaac

Oh dear...like 12 each time. (and I've kept them all!!) Thank goodness for $ store tests. I had several miscarriages before our first child so every pregnancy since then has just felt more "real" every time I see that line...so until it is darker than the control line (each time around 6-7 weeks for me), I keep testing like every other day. LOL

...but SHH! My husband has no idea I've tested so much! LOL

My pregnancy was an ICSI pregnancy (like IVF only more evasive) and I had a blood test scheduled for Friday. I took a test wednesday night to see.. I had peed like 2 hrs earlier but it came up positive! I took another thursday morning and another Friday morning to be sure. Then when the blood test came back positive I took another one Saturday morning just to watch it turn positive again! LOL (I guess that's what happens when you try for 4.5 years.)

I took one with Mica. It was a slight line. I just knew I was prego though. I felt different. It didn't totally sink in until my doctor visit.

With Isaak it was strange. I thought I was prego a month before I was. My body was telling me I was. My period was late, breasts were sore. I took one test, and it was negative. A month later I felt it again, took another test and I was prego.

I won't even tell you all how much I waste each month. We have been ttc for about 12 cycles now (months)and each month I hope, take soo many tests only to be sad :( So, to answer your question too many to tell anyone! LOL!

Just one, but my husband made me take another before he believed.

I've taken several when I thought, (or hoped!) I was pregnant...I never wanted to believe the negative ones. But both times when I got a positive I believed it and only did one! :-)

I took 6 tests (I'm a med lab tech) then called my doctor for an ultrasound! We had been trying for 12 years!

Three - the line test first, but i didn't believe it, so I took a plus test and a digital just to be sure!!

hmm... i have never had a home pregnancy test. I did have three tests during my first pregnancy though...

I already knew i was pregnant when i went to the health dept for the first one (they actually gave me the due date that was when my son was born)

We moved and i had to get a test to prove i was pregnant for medicaid in the new state... and then we moved again when i was eight months pregnant and i had to do the same thing again... they required the pregnancy test even with my obvious belly and the kiking in my ribs.

I was actually debating earlier today whether or not i need to take a preganancy test. My son is five months old and i breastfeed so i haven't had a period yet... but my mother got pregnant with my sister when i was five months old and she was breastfeeding me....

My mood has changed, i am hungrier and more tired, and my breasts are tender (though that may have something to do with my son teething and nursing)

So... hubby and i may wait a week or two to see and take a test but i think that there is a great possibility of me being pregnant again... :)

With my first I was in denial, had no extra cash (switched jobs and had to wait 3 weeks to get paid) so I ended up getting a test done at a free woman's clinic. With my second I bought a 2 pack, the first one was messed up and didn't show anything (not even a control line) so I peed on it again, got a BFP and decided to take the next one later on. With my last baby I must have taken like 25 tests, but all before I actually got pregnant. We stopped trying and I only had two tests left so I used them when I got my very faint BFP and confirmed with my doctor.

I didn't take any over-the-counter pregnancy tests - my doctor did a blood test to make sure I wasn't pregnant before starting hormone therapy, and when they called and said I was pregnant all I could say was 'are you sure????'

I took two for the first pregnancy because my husband did not believe it! The second time I took only one and nothing showed up so I threw it out. When I was emptying the trash later that day I noticed the lines and freaked out that I had thrown it away too early and I was actually prego! I'll never forget that moment even though it was #2.

hahahah!! this made me laugh. Im to was guilty. Good thing with this second one i found them at the dollar store bc i spent way to much $ with my first :)

With my first, I did take three. I did not believe I was pregnant, a bit in shock. I have no idea why I was so shocked since I stopped taking my birth control 6 months earlier because my husband and I decided to "just see what happens". That is what happens!

With my second, I took two. I knew I was pregnant, but just wanted to double check.

I think it is pretty funny. When my friends think they are pregnant, I always tell them to pick up a multi-pack of testers.

With my daughter, I took 3?
2nd pregnancy, 2.
3rd pregnancy, 2.
This pregnancy, only one!

I took just one. And I had bought a two pack! I ended up throwing the other test away when my son was like a year old and it had expired! Haha. I didn't even think to take another! Funny
