Aloha Friday

It's Aloha Friday over at An Island Life! Answer my question and make sure you post one on your blog! After that, go relax because today is Friday!!

(And check back later for a fantastic giveaway!)

Do you still live near where you grew up or have you moved away? Do you live near any family?
I am *extremely* close with my family and still live near them. Hubby was talking about some even better opportunities with his company if we were to move, but I don't want to. I love the people we've surrounded ourselves with and I like where we live.

I still live within about 30 minutes of where I grew up, and we only live about 2 miles from where my hubby grew up!

We just moved 1,000 miles from our friends and family last summer. Was it scary? Heck yes! Do we miss them? All the time... but we also really love it here. We've met some new wonderful friends and the cost of living is infinitely better here - the neighborhood is wonderful - and we get to visit new places we've never been all the time. I do miss the free baby sitting though!

We actually live in the house that my husband grew up in! After his dad passed away, his mom moved a few miles away and we bought their family house. My parents live a few miles into the next town, too! I would never live far from them!!

I live about 1000 miles away from my family. We live about 20 minutes from my husband's family. I wish we lived closer to my family :(

I live .9 of a mile away from my parents (just walked it the other day with the kids). I am very close and love being near them. Of course if I moved, it would just be to a close area with better schools.

We moved back home near family. We currently live down the road from Great Grandparents, and 2 Great Aunts... the rest of my DH's family lives near and I love the fact the kids see them almost daily!

No, I moved to the suburb my dad use to take us for a mini-vacation though. I always said some day I was going to move out here with my dad because he loved it so much. I live close to my husband's family, but all my children/family have moved away from me. One is even out of State. The rest are all in different suburbs.

I live 2 hours from where I grew up but both of my parents are gone now and I'm not really that close with my siblings. Our grown children live close to us and we have friends that are closer than our extended family ever was so life is good!

I live about 3 hours from where I grew up. I would love to move a bit closer so my kids could grow up with their cousins.

14 hours by car..and that's good for us. The only time we get sad about the distance is when the kids get sad...or we want a free sitter:)

I had moved away when I first went to college, and have never regretted it. While I met my husband in that state & that was where we lived, we have moved around a lot in the past five years for his work. The opportunities have been invaluable for his career, so we know it's all worthwhile- but I definitely get homesick for my adopted state of Georgia once in awhile and look forward to returning! (I wrote a post about it recently, titled Georgia on my Mind- it seemed appropriate!) It gets easier each time :)
