What you'll need:
-1/2 cup unsalted butter(I used Salted)
-1 cup all-purpose flour
-2 cups sugar, divided
-1 tablespoon baking powder
-Pinch of salt(didn't add since I used salted butter)
-1 cup milk
-4 cups fresh peach slices (about 6 peaches-I'll use 8-9 peaches next time)
-1 tablespoon lemon juice
-Ground cinnamon or nutmeg (optional-but do it!)
Melt butter in a 13- x 9-inch baking dish. In a separate bowl, combine flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt; add milk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Pour batter over butter (do not stir).
Bring remaining 1 cup sugar, peach slices, and lemon juice to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly.
Pour over batter (do not stir). The peaches will just fall into the batter. Sprinkle with cinnamon-seriously, do it.
Bake at 375° for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown. Serve cobbler warm or cool(AKA-hot with ice cream on top).
I wish I could do scratch and sniff because my house smelled so yummy after making this peach cobbler. I was a little unsure about how it would match up with my mama's, but this was just as good(dare I say-if not better). I will definitely add more peaches than the recipe calls for next time, but other than that, I wouldn't change a thing.
