Parenting Questions Answered - Bed Time

I have heard so many people say their kids go to bed at 7:30ish. There is no way my kids are in bed that early.

Isabella usually goes to bed around 8:30 and Evan goes down at 9:00-9:30. Evan wakes up around 7:30-8 and Isabella gets up around 9 or so. Isabella take (2) 2 hour naps and Evan takes (1) 2 hour nap. My husband sometimes doesn't get home until 7 so to spend time with them, 8:30 or later works-plus they don't go to school yet and I'm a SAHM.

What time do your kids go to bed? What time do they wake up?

My kids go to bed at 7:00. They are both early risers (up with the sun, no matter what time they go to bed), so we need that early bedtime to make sure they get enough sleep. Lately they are waking up around 6:30.

My son, 4, goes to bed and 830 and is up between 7 and 8 usually. My daughter, 9months goes to bed between 9 and 10 (depending on her last bottle) and gets up between 730-830.
I have friends who put their kids down at 7/730 too and then the kids get up super early like 5 or 6. I've figured out though that most of those families are working moms who need to get their kids off to the babysitter/school/daycare. Since I'm a SAHM, I'd rather the kids sleep in!

I have a 4 year old and an 18 month old who share a room. They go to bed around 7-7:30 and sleep about 12 hours. I'm a SAHM and enjoy alone time with my husband after the kids go to sleep. Plus I'm preggo again and usually go to sleep around 9:30 myself, I need my sleep!!! I can never sleep late in the morning :)

My husband is a teacher so he's home in the summer and our schedule changes but I work all year round so it stays within reason. Summer sleep times are 8Pm - 6AM but weekends sometimes till 7AM. Josh(3yrs) is still taking a 2 to 2 1/2 hr nap during the day (12:30 - 2:30)
School year is more like 7:30PM. We always do books together before bed so it sets the pace for bed. The boys drink their milk while I read. Seems like your schedule is a littler later at night but later sleep in the AM but over all the same hours of sleep ;)

My son's go to bed around 8, probably don't sleep until 8:30. They wake up around 6:30 or 7 depending if we have to get up to take them to my sister or mom and dad's house. They wake up when we wake up.

They nap at 2 and wake up around 5. My oldest doesn't always nap now, which is normal for an almost 5 year old. I do like it when he does nap because he gets swirly, sometimes even naughty in the evening. He just does better with a nap. He has to break from one sometime though. When my oldest crashes, he crashes! He's a hard sleeper.

My oldest is usually always happy when he wakes up and my youngest is generally a grump when he wakes up.

Mine go to bed around 8:30-9:00 and get up 12 to 12 1/2 hours later. Works for me because I hate getting up early.

My 2 year old twin girls go to bed at 7, but are in their beds at 645pm. And they get up at 630am, but out of their rooms at 7. And nap for 2 hours. We had early bedtimes of course as infants, and have always had a nice schedule...and I'll hold on the the early bedtimes for as long as I can. ;)

My boys go to bed around 8 oclock and they have done that since they were little. We do stay up a little later in the summer just because the sun is still out at 8 sometimes:) They are usually up between 6:30 and 7:00...which really stinks during the summer but is a must during the school year!

My girls are 7-7:30 here. During the school year (ie when I work) I have to get them up by 6:30...right now, they might sleep in until 7am!

Dustyn (2 years old) is in bed by 8. He is usually up by 7/7:30 the next morning no matter what time he goes to sleep. Carsyn (2 months old) doesn't have a set time. Just depending on his last nap, but usually asleep by 8 or 9 and doesn't wake up until 630/7.

I need Ethan in bed by 7. I'm so tired by then I don't think I could stand him to be up any longer! He gets up around 7am. I like to get up early too so it works out. I'm sure as he gets older he will go to bed later.

We put the kids to bed at 7 and they get stories and whatever until 7:15 (Eli) and 7:30 (Hannah). They both get up around 7 and Eli still takes about a 2 hour nap every day.

Faith is pretty much on the same schedule as Isabella. In order to spend time with her after work, we just shift her schedule back a little. She eats dinner at 7p, bathes between 7:30 and 8p, and then bed at 8:30p. She wakes up between 8:30 and 9a, and on good days sleeps past that some.

My husband doesn't get home until 7 due to a long commute. So in order to get some time with her, he'd put our 11 month old through her nighttime routine...story and in bed at 7:30. Sometimes they'd play around and she wouldn't get to bed until 8:30. It wouldn't be a problem except that she is an early riser... always up at 6/6:30, then get cranky and then want a nap at 8. this was driving me crazy. Now I put her to bed around 6:30/7 and it has been working so much better in terms of her daytime routine. She doesn't get the morning crankies anymore.

8 or 830 on school nights, because they have to be up at 630am... but summers/holidays/weekends/ pretty much whenever they crash

Now that it is summer and daylight longer, both of my girls go to bed between 8 and 8:30. Aiyana is up around 7 am and Chloe sleeps until around 8 am. Chloe takes a 1 and a half hour nap during the day. In the winter, they are usually asleep by 7:30 pm.

I have a second shift baby.... I dread when he starts school. He just turned 3 and goes to bed between 10 and midnight. But he sleeps till 10am too. I think he just stays up to see Mommy when she gets home from work, since I work afternoon/nights.
It sure is nice to get to sleep in when you dont get to bed until about 1am though!!

My kids both go to bed at 8:30, my son is 5 and my daughter is almost 3. On days my daughter sleeps during naptime she does not typically fall asleep right away, but she will look at books quietly in her room. My son wakes up about 7:45, she wakes up 8 or later depending on what time she actually falls asleep. I am working mom.

8:45 - 9pm on school nights when they have to be up around 7am.
10pm summer a lot, they have to be up by 8:15 or so, they don't nap and I don't want the schedules TOO far off. They have stayed up til or past midnight on occasion, but sleep in later the next day.

i wish he did go to bed! sometimes around 8 or 9 is my goal. then sometimes he will wake at 5 am and other days like today it will be closer to 8am. some days i can get him to nap and others i can't... but he is still young and needs it. he has NEVER been a good sleeper. i have my fingers crossed that number 2 will be better!

I wish she would go to bed later but right now Hailey (my 9 month old) goes to bed between 6:30 and 7! I've tried to keep her up longer but she just won't have it. I can't complain, she has slept through the night since she was a month old and now sleeps 12 hrs, wakes up to eat at 6 or 7am and then goes back to sleep right away for 2 more hrs.

My daughter is 3 1/2 and sometimes doesn't go to bed until around 10 or so. My job is flexible and I don't drop her off at daycare until 10 or 11 most days so she gets plenty of sleep! Its just the 2 of us and we aren't too strict around here, but definitely have healthy boundaries.
