Kokopax Review And Giveaway

I never really used a carrier with my son. I thought it would be a waste of money and would just sit in a corner. Someone did give me a super cheap one that I just didn't like and I thought all carriers would be like that. At the time, I had no idea there were so many different options.

Photobucket

I was recently introduced to the Kokopax Classic Carrier. Kokopax is another company that was created by a mom who is trying to help make the life's of other parents easier. Kokopax was founded in 2007 after Sara Spoor realized that the backpack carrier was a necessity for her everyday life but they were unattractive. She came across some amazing fabrics and created a new, modern look that she knew other parents would appreciate.

Kokopax sent us the Classic Carrier in the Garden fabric for review. It comes in this carry bag.
Photobucket

A lot of thought was put into the design of the Kokopax Classic Carrier. By only weighing 2.7 pounds, it makes carrying a toddler around super easy! It is made of 100% cotton canvas and an anodized aluminum frame. To make it easy for anyone to use, there is an adjustable frame with comfortable shoulder straps and a padded waist support. There is even a toy ring at the front to keep baby happy with their favorite toys.

As always, safety is most important to me. This carrier has met and surpassed my expectations. There is a 5 point safety harness to keep baby secure. The picture below is showing how the kickstand works. You just open it up and sit baby in. Once you have the baby in and secured with the safety harness, it is easy to load them on your back even by yourself. You can also see the pocket in the back of the carrier that allows for a little extra storage.
Photobucket

My aunt happened to be in town when we got it about 2 months ago. She's only about 5' 3" and questioned whether or not it would be comfortable for her. We strapped Evan in and she took him for a ride around the house and then outside. She was extremely pleased with how light and easy it was to carry him.
Photobucket

My brother is about 6 feet tall and he wore it for a while. He was comfortable the whole time and said that he even forgot he was wearing it from time to time. Since then he's also worn it at the zoo with us and was perfectly fine during the whole trip.
Photobucket

One of my favorite things about the Carrier is that there is no strap that goes around your waist. Most carriers have one and they make me feel self conscious. This was the only carrier that I was able to use during my pregnancy because it was just like carrying a backpack.
Photobucket

Many carriers only allow you to wear them while baby is still pretty small. They become uncomfortable to wear when baby weighs more. The Kokopax carrier can be used on babies from about 6 months until they are 2 years old or 35 pounds. This is the only carrier that I've been able to use with Evan at this age-he's really too big for us to wear the other ones comfortably. The Kokopax Carrier evenly distributes the weight and makes it comfortable to use with heavier babies and toddlers.

I absolutely love this carrier and enjoy using it, my only problem is the size. It is super light, but it doesn't fold up very small. It's not one that I can keep in my car because it takes up a lot of space in the back and I still don't know where I'm going to stash it inside. Right now it is in Isabella's closet and it would be so much easier if I could just leave it in my car! I'm sure I'll walk out of the house many times and forget to bring it with me. You'll also have to use another carrier for babies under 6 months, which is fine because most of those carriers only go up to about 6 months and then you'll need a new one anyway.

Kokopax also carries a tote and sun hat. The Blakely Ring Tote is available in the same colors as the Carriers for a perfect match! It is 18” x 4 ½” x 18" and made of 100% cotton canvas. There is an attachable mini-tote and separate zipper pocket for extra storage. The key fob and bottle/beverage compartment makes this tote amazingly functional.

Fancy Fortune Cookies Review And Giveaway

How often have you gone to visit new parents and they're giving out bubblegum cigars? It's always the same thing. I was trying to think of something different that we could do and I've found it!

Photobucket

Fancy Fortune Cookies allows you to personalized your own fortune cookies for any occasion. They have Giant Fortune Cookies, Vanilla Fortune Cookies, Flavored Fortune Cookies, and Chocolate Covered Fortune Cookies. The Fortune Cookies are made fresh in their bakery to ensure that they arrive crunchy and perfect for your occasion.

Fancy Fortune Cookies sent us this huge box full of Raspberry flavored Fortune Cookies for the big day!
Photobucket

I had so much fun choosing which cookie and which messages that I wanted them to say. I chose one message and then she told me that I could choose up to FIVE different messages!! She was so much help and even sent over a list of ideas that I could use for sayings. Each message can have up to 3 lines with 30 characters per line. I chose three- "Sugar and spice and everything nice… That’s what little girls are made of.", "It's A Girl!", and then one with her full name on it.

Ours are going to be used at the hospital but they would make great favors for baby showers as well! I've also heard of people proposing with fortune cookies-why not use a GIANT fortune cookie to pop the question? These would make lasting impressions for small businesses at trade shows or for larger companies at corporate events. The ideas are endless and they can be used for everything from Birthdays to Weddings!
Photobucket

Even though we had ours done in Raspberry, there are several other flavors available. I'd personally like some in Double Chocolate as well-YUM! They have a bubblegum flavored one that is also light pink and would be pretty funny to use for babies because so many people give out those bubblegum cigars.

Here is one of our fortune cookies. Hopefully she'll decide to make an appearance soon so that we can use them! They have a light raspberry taste and are the perfect color for a baby girl. We've had them for a few weeks and they are still amazingly fresh and crunchy.

Baby Update

I am 38 1/2 weeks pregnant which is just so hard to believe-I'm still not sure where all that time went! I went to the doctor yesterday and am now 5cm. Slowly, but surely I'm getting to 10cm without actually being in labor. I was hoping they could induce on Friday(Evan's bday is Monday), but they can't induce until 39 weeks(Sat).

I'm pretty sure that he stripped my membranes while I was there and I had contractions all day yesterday. Before I left the doctor we watched and I had several contractions while still there. He told me I would have the baby either yesterday or today-I told him not to be so sure! I'm still having them now, but they're not as intense. My fingers are crossed that my water will just break soon so that I don't have to play this guessing game of if this is real or not. If it wasn't raining I would be tempted to go for a walk!

On one hand, I'm REALLY ready for her to just get here. I think that I know how close I am and am just ready to hold my little girl in my arms. BUT, we've been spending a lot of time together as a family of 3 which I think is good for Evan. I'm also not quite ready to be done being pregnant. If this is our last baby, this will be the last time I feel these little movements inside of me.

He was going to schedule to induce next Wednesday, but then told me he wasn't because he knew I'd have the baby before then. He told me that he would be the one at the hospital on Sat and if I come and have ONE contraction then he'll keep me and help me along. At first I was excited about that, but now I'm just scared I'll show up and be sent home. I think I might call today or tomorrow and see if they'll put me back on the books for next Wednesday.

But for now, here is a recent belly pic.
Photobucket

I know I've been a little MIA lately, but I've also had some family issues. My grandmother is back in the hospital and we had family in town this weekend. I'm still getting new Baby Bash giveaways up so stay tuned! I was thinking that Isabella would be here to test a few for herself before the bash was over, but it's not looking that way!

Kushies Review And Giveaway

Over the past year, I've done my best to go "green". I've done easy things such as switching to chemical free cleaners. I've also taken more drastic changes such as using mostly cloth diapers. I feel that it is important to provide my children with as many "environmentally friendly" products as possible.

Photobucket

Kushies is a company that is introducing Organic Products into their collection. Even though I cringe at some organic children's clothing, Kushies has surprised me with their stylish organic collection. They are now carrying Organic Safari Layette and Crib Sheets!

Kushies sent Isabella their Safari Organic Sleeper in pink.
Photobucket

The sleeper is made of 100% Certified Organic Cotton and is available in 4 different soft colors. Instead of snaps that are hard to fasten, there is an easy to use zipper on the side. If you want your baby to have a matching set, they also have a matching blanket!

I think the colors in this collection are fantastic. Even though I want to use as many organic products as possible, I don't want to completely sacrifice on style. One of my favorite color combinations is pink and brown. This is a sleeper that I will be proud to show Isabella off in! Here is a little girl showing off another one of their Organic Layette sets.
Photobucket

Isn't this baby boy sleeper adorable?
Photobucket

Kushies has many other baby products available that would make life so much easier. I'm really loving their new Easy Fold Baby Bed. I would get a ton of use out of it. You'll have to check out Kushies to see their other amazing products.

Little Luvee Review And Giveaway

You can never have too many blankets and burp cloths for a new baby. I remember going through several each day with my son. I was always wishing I had more cute ones. It is a safe baby shower giveaway because everyone needs a ton of them!

Photobucket

Little Luvee specializes in high quality blankets and burp cloths. Their burp cloths come in a set of three. The matching baby blankets are absolutely adorable and are sure to be a favorite with their soft, stylish design. They even carry adult blankets for mom! I personally want one of their 4.75ft x 6ft Adult Minky Throws.

Little Luvee sent us the Pink Retro Dot Set of Burp Cloths for the baby.
Photobucket

They were made from premium cloth diapers and soft minky fabrics. Each burp cloth measures 18in X 13in. My personal favorite feature is that they are machine washable. Many high quality products can't go in my washing machine, but Little Luvee made sure that I could throw all of their products in the wash!
Photobucket

Isabella is sure to be in style with these burp cloths. Not only are they super cute, but they're extremely soft. I love baby products made out of minky fabric. It gives them an expensive look and feels so amazing.

Natural Mat Giveaway

We all want the best for our children. We want to go to bed at night knowing that we've done all that we can to keep our children as safe as possible. I think it is important to do my research and find simple ways to provide safety.

Photobucket

Natural Mat is a company that believes children deserve the best start in life and they want to provide them with good sleep in a safe, natural environment. Natural Mat is a U.K. based company that offers the safest variety of high quality, 100% natural organic crib mattresses and linens for babies. It was created in 2000 when Mark Tremlett and Peter Tindall became suppliers of natural mattresses for boats and yachts. The next year Mark and his wife were expecting their first child and he noticed there were no high quality, all-natural mattresses for babies. They expanded their line and created their baby collection.

Natural Mat sent me a sample of their Coco Mat.
Photobucket

The Cocoa Mat is Natural Mat's most breathable and organic mattress. It is filled with coir from the only organic coir plantation in the world. Coir is made from coconut fibers that are coated with natural latex to provide a breathable layer. The coir is then wrapped in Natural Mat's unique lambswool that has been bathed in a mixture of extracts of lavender, lemon, and eucalyptus. This mixture makes the Coco Mat anti-dust mite while also providing amazing thermal insulating properties of wool. There is a removable inner and outer cover for extra protection that is made from pure cotton and is 100% chemical free.

Photobucket

I think that this is a simple solution to keeping babies safe. If you're looking for a crib mattress, why not go with one that is Anti-dust mite? The mattress is springy and supportive which will make for a comfortable place for your baby to sleep. I also love that the outer cover is machine washable.

Natural mat also carriers 100% Organic Cotton Crib Sheets.
Photobucket

The sheets are made from crisp cotton percale and soft flannelette. They are lightweight and breathable which is perfect to use year round. These sheets are free of pesticides, insecticides, heavy metals, and chemicals. They are machine washable and measure 75 x 110cm.

Stork Craft Tuscany Glider And Ottoman Review And Giveaway

The baby's room is almost done. We've been putting the finishing touches on it so that it is ready for her arrival. One thing that we didn't have is a Glider. I had an old rocking chair in our son's room, and it was not very comfortable for late night feedings. A padded glider is a must have for any nursery.

Photobucket

Stork Craft is a great place to turn for all nursery needs. They have been around for over 60 years and are a leader in design, manufacture, and distribution of juvenile products. They are dedicated to providing safe, high quality, affordable products for young children. All of their products are Juvenile Products Manufacturers' Association certified and have gone through extensive testing to follow safety standards and regulations.

Stork Craft sent us their Tuscany Glider and Ottoman in cherry and beige.
Photobucket

The box that it comes in is not very big and weights about 54 pounds. Everything comes in one box ready to put together. My husband had the whole thing out of the box and together in less than 15 minutes.
Photobucket

The ottoman comes ready with no assembly required. The only thing that has to be done with the ottoman is taking the plastic cover off.
Photobucket

The chair comes in a few pieces. Here is the seat of the chair. You can see where the cushions will snap into place.
Photobucket

The back goes on next with a few screws.
Photobucket

A minute or two later, the arms are on and it it is ready for the cushions!
Photobucket

I absolutely love that the cushions are a light beige color. It goes with any room decor and is such a clean look. I was a little worried about my son messing them up, but they are made of microfiber and are spot-cleanable. If needed, I can spray or wipe down the cushions while they are still snapped into the chair.
Photobucket

This glider is extremely comfortable. I sink down in the padding and the enclosed metal ball bearings allow for the amazingly smooth motion. Before I know it, I'll be doing late night feedings in this chair. With it being so comfortable, I'm sure there will be many times that I fall asleep sitting right there in her room. You'll be seeing many pictures of us using the glider once the baby gets here.

Other than the comfort, my favorite feature has to be these pockets on the arm. I can keep burp cloths and bibs in them so that I won't have to worry if I forget to grab one before I sit down. If someone else is feeding her, they can put the bottle down in there so they don't have to get up right away. It is hard to see in this picture, but the pockets are on the sides of the arms.

Ameda Purely Yours Ultra Breast Pump

I believe in at least trying to breastfeed. I know it's not every mom's choice, and I also know that some just can't do it, but I think that mom's should give it a try. Unfortunately, I only breastfed my son for 4 months. I wanted to go longer but I am way too modest and couldn't bring myself to feed him out in public. I was always ducking into dressing rooms and feeding him in the parking lot. I had a cheap breast pump and it never worked well so I didn't use it.

Photobucket

If I would have had a the Ameda Purely Yours Ultra Double Electric Breast Pump, I know I would have breastfed for longer. Ameda is a name that I can rely on-many hospitals sell this pump to their new mommies because they know from experience that it will benefit them. Over 60 years ago, Einar Egnell created a new technology to mimic the suckling rhythm of nursing. Ameda took that technology and created a breast pump that is comfortable and efficient. If you need more reasons to choose Ameda, you can visit their Why Ameda page.

Ameda sent me their Ameda Purely Yours Ultra Double Electric Breast Pump to use with the new baby.
Photobucket

I obviously haven't used it because the baby isn't here yet, but I wanted to tell you about the pump. I am extremely impressed with all of the different options of the Ameda pump. My old pump only had 2 suction strengths and it was just a single pump. I wish that I would have looked into better breast pumps so that I would have breastfed longer.

Ameda understands that every woman is different and needs unique pumping patterns. The Ameda Purely Yours Ultra Double Breast Pump has separate suction and speed dials that allow you to choose from THIRTY TWO different combinations to ensure that you have the most effective pumping experience.
Photobucket

A perfect fit allows for more comfort and better milk flow. The Ameda pump has a CustomFit Flange System. Flange fit can change with birth breastfeeding, and pumping, so Ameda has included the three most popular flange sizes for the perfect fit.

I'll be using my pump to store milk so that I can have it when we're out and about. I'll still have to pump some while on the go, but I'll mostly be using it at home. Many moms have to go back to work and pumping is the only way that they'll be able to continue breastfeeding. The Purely Yours Ultra has everything moms will need to discreetly pump while on the go.

Features Include:
Photobucket
-HygieniKit® Milk Collection System with 2 additional size flange options
-Cool N Carry™ Milk Storage Tote with 3 cooler packs and 4 extra storage bottles
-12V Car Adapter
-One Hand Manual Pump Adapter
-Extra Valves, Nylon bag for parts and easy to clean pumping pad

Photobucket

The tote is a amazingly stylish and no one will have a clue that it contains a breast pump! The pump is extremely lightweight and can even operate on 6 AA batteries. The HygieniKit Milk Collection System prevents milk from entering the hard-to-clean tubing and pump motor. The HygieniKit is dishwasher safe and can convert to a manual pump if needed.

I never thought I'd say this, but I am really excited to breastfeed. My goal is to breastfeed for most of Isabella's first year. Not only is it healthier for her, but formula is so expensive and breastfeeding will cut costs tremendously.

I'll be sure to share my thoughts on it after I've put it to the test!

Buy It!
You can purchase the Ameda Purely Yours Ultra Double Electric Breast Pump for $299.99.
