Introducing Isabella

I know I'm a slacker and haven't posted any pictures yet. I've been spending all of my time falling more in love with the newest member of our family.

Photobucket

I am still AMAZED by how calm and quiet she is. Evan was a wild child from day one. He didn't sleep NEAR as much as most newborns do and he cried-a lot! There was no way he would just sit there and coo, he always wanted to be held. She loves to be held, but is perfectly content no matter where she is. She sleeps like a champ and I'm still waiting for that to change. She's 4 days old now and is still sleeping mostly through the night. I have to wake her up to feed her. Some nights she goes to sleep pretty late(around midnight or so), but when she goes to sleep she sleeps until I wake her up. Now that my milk is in, the doctor said that I can let her go a lot longer and not have to wake her up for night feedings. I wake her up between 6 -7am and she goes back to sleep until 9-10am. She's usually up and more alert between 10-1 and then goes back down for a super long nap which happens to be when Evan takes his nap! I couldn't ask for anything more perfect.

I've had one small scare that I'm anxious to talk about tomorrow with her doctor. She has spit up some green/black looking stuff 3 times over the past 2 days. I called and the on call nurse said that she should be fine as long as she doesn't have a fever and doesn't do it a WHOLE lot. Unfortunately, one of my nipples is bleeding(sorry for the TMI) and she said it could just be that it is upsetting her stomach a little. She's still pooping and peeing like a champ so I'm not TOO worried about it. Have any of you dealt with anything like that with your children?

You know that I take a TON of pictures and there will be plenty more to come, but I knew it was about time that I shared a few pictures of our new princess! Like the bow? Stay tuned for a review/giveaway!

She is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I only once had a boy puke black & it ended up being blood & he was very sick but if your nips are bleeding then that could be it! I would def talk to the dr about it! (on a side note are you making sure latch is correct your nips shouldn't be bleeding mama! Also could you have thrush? Mine got all nasty & cracked & bleeding when we got thrush. Your making mine hurt thinking about it!)

She is beautiful! Congrats on the addition to your family. I don't know about the spit up but the nipples are something I've been all too familiar with...do you have lanolin? That worked great for me. Good luck w/ the check-up and I hope the breastfeeding continues to go good!!

She's beautiful, Dee! And she sounds like an angel. I don't have any advice or experience with the weird spit up, but I know all about sore bf'ing nipples. Man, that is so painful. Hopefully your doctor will have some information to put your mind at ease.

she is gorgeous! congratulations! I remember during the first week with my daughter, she had blood in her diaper and the doctor said she kind of a had a "period" of sorts because she had my hormones in her! It's sometimes scary the things you don't know, but it sounds like the nurse wasn't too concerned... i hope it continues to go well for you all :)

About the weird spit-up. Neither of my older two daughters did that at all, but my youngest, did for the first few days. Turns out it was that she had swallowed some blood {My nipples bled pretty badly at first too}.

Congratulations!!!

Oh, I love the one of her all wrapped up and sleeping. Adorable blanket!

If your nipples are bleeding...is she latching on completely? If you're comfortable, perhaps have the nurse check to see if she is. Sometimes it is hard to tell from way up there while holding a baby. My first had her tiny bottom lip in when she was first learning and my midwife noticed and helped me correct it to avoid problems.

Make sure you get some proper cream for it!!

Thanks for sharing the pics!

What a little sweetheart!
I bet Evan is a very proud BIG brother :)
You have a beautiful family, Dee!
Sounds like the nurse is most likely right... But do ask the doc & what kind of cream is safest to use on your poor sore nipples ((ouch)) as Isabella will be digesting it too.
I wasn't able to even try nursing my 1st, as he was a premie, and I got No directions with #2 & I developed cystitis (sp??) and ended up using formula, but by then his sleep patterns were all thrown off... he never slept again until he was a teenager! LOL!
a prayer that all continues well!

A special note... Do Not worry about slacking!! You are a new mom, we all understand! {{{{Hugs}}}}

my daughter swallowed machonium*sp right before i gave birth. my docter said it was because she was late. she ended up having about half a pound of it in her lungs, she coughed it up for a while, and her spit up was blackish for a few days. so i hope thats not what it is! good luck!keep an eye on her though. my little girl spit up in her sleep and stopped breathing. i had to put her to sleep on her side so she didnt drown herself.

She is certainly a beautiful baby!

Someone once told me that even though it's scary for us when a child throws up they are ridding their body of something that "doesn't belong". Think of how good you feel after you just get it out...I'd say it there is no temp then you can relax. Any chance she could have aspirated a little meconium with birth? That could be the answer. At any rate, talking it over with your doctor will make you feel much better!

Blessings to your growing, sweet family!
