Too Early For This?

I know everyone says that with every pregnancy, everything happens faster(including getting bigger)! BUT, my back is KILLING me! I'm only 19 weeks pregnant.

I'm not sure if it has to do with having to pick up my toddler as well, but starting yesterday-it really hurts! I went to bed last night with my lower back really aching. This morning it's not as bad, but it's only morning.

I have horrible posture, so that doesn't help anything at all. I don't remember my back really hurting until closer to 30 weeks. Maybe around week 25 or so. Maybe it's just a fluke and I moved wrong or something and it will quit hurting in the next few days.

That's not the only thing that feels early. I've been feeling the baby move since I was about 15 weeks pregnant. Starting somewhere between 17 and 18 weeks, we could feel the kicks from the outside! I know for a fact that I was almost 24 weeks along with my first before we could feel him kicking from the outside.

Don't get me wrong, having the baby kick is my favorite part of pregnancy, but it seems early.

For those of you with more than one child, did things like this happen this much earlier with your second? Pin It!

I think it just depends on the pregnancy. With my first one, my back hurt from 12 weeks on. To the point that I couldn't get up without help...and it took my breath away. I was so scared it would be like that for my second pregnancy too. Thankfully, that wasn't the case.

Talk to your doctor, he might have suggestions or something you can take!

Hugs! Been there and done that...just remember...all of the pain is worth it! Eye on the prize!

For my second pregnancy everything did happen earlier. I felt things, had a ton more pains and got bigger quickly. Like PP said, it all depends... but this seems to be a trend ion the people I have spoken to.

From what I've heard, a lot of things happen earlier after you've had a child already. I didn't feel Abby movie until after 20 weeks along. I'm 17 weeks and I'm already feeling movement. I'm also showing more than the first time around. Try to take it easy. I hope you're back feels better soon!

I know I felt Quinn (2nd born) move earlier than with Hanna. My second pregnancy was over all a lot more uncomfortable. While you're standing (while making dinner or whatever), put one of your feet up on a stool. That should alleviate some of the pressure on your back. Hope you feel better soon!

I know I felt them all kicking earlier with each one, but I think the back thing is just hit or miss. Hopefully it will go away and not continue the whole time! Take it easy though and try not lifting your little one as much as possible. Hope you feel better!

I am 30 weeks pregnant right now and I have a 2 year old son. I completely agree that everything happened earlier this time around. When I asked the doctor if I was crazy for thinking that I felt the baby move already she told me no that you do feel the baby earlier the 2nd time around. I'm sorry to hear about your back pain! Mine is hip pain :(
Hope things get better soon :)

I think everything happens sooner with the more pregnancies you have! I was showing way sooner with my second and third than my first. And all the pains seem to come sooner too! This may sound crazy, but the back pain my have something to do with the fact that your ab muscles are stretch from your first pregnancy so you don't have as much support of the prego belly that you had the first time around! It could also be related to how the baby is positioned. Maybe he is pushing on your back more!
Just curious...Have you narrowed down the list of names yet??

I'm 19 weeks on my second baby and my hips and tail bone are killing me! So, yep... I'm going to say it all happens quicker. Along with the kicks. What is scary to think is the kicks are only going to get harder and we're already sore. :| EEK!

You will feel the baby earlier with subsequent pregnancies b/c you know what to expect. It happened at the same time with your first pregnancy, but you didn't know what you were feeling. You may have chalked it up to gas, nausea, heartburn, etc.

Subsequent labors tend to be faster too, depending. Your body is used to that action too. My babies weights dropped from pregnancy to pregnancy. That was a good thing since my first one was over 10lbs!

I think my back hurt almost the entire time when I was pregnant with Hannah. With Eli, I was going to the chiropractor and I had hardly any back pain! It was wonderful. Of course I stopped after he was born and now I am having pain again - I'm sure holding my kids all my time is NOT the culprit! :-)

My back started to hurt early in my 2nd pregnancy. I think picking up a toddler has to have something to do with it. Besides the back pain, I experienced all of my symptoms much faster with the 2nd.

Ugh! Thing do happen earlier with second (& third, fourth) babies.... Make sure you talk to your doctor, too. Sometimes backaches can be a sign of a urinary tract/kidney infection you may not have known about! Don't worry, busy mommies lifting busy toddlers is most likely the cause. Take it easy!!!

I think everything is worse with the second pregnance because you can't just focus on taking care of your self like you did the first time around! Take it easy.....and get a nightly back massage from the hubby!

I was told to get a support belt. They are really supposed to help....

Yes! Everything happens earlier! I also noticed getting more fatigued and my body giving out earliers. I loved being pregnant with my first but I was SOOOO ready to have my second before it was time. I was so sore and I think it was because of all the extra you do when you have another little one around. A lot more bending! My labor was actually about twice as long with my second versus my first. Go figure!

Yes! Everything happened so much faster w/ my subsequent pregnancies. However, the back thing very well could be toddler-picking-up related. My back hurt almost my whole third pregnancy and I was soooo exhausted and I firming believe it was due to my very active 1 year old! Good luck and hope it gets better...either way, it's totally worth it in the end!

Sorry about your back hurting. I never had back pain with the first one, but had it almost all the way through with the second. Not fun. :(

Dropping by to welcome you to SITS - so glad to have you join us!

I think that you do feel things a little bit earlier the second time around. You are just more in tune with your body and what is happenning to it. Make your hubby rub that sore back of yours!

Things most definitely happened faster for me with my second pregnancy! Everything from weight gain, bulging belly, back aches, feeling kicks, to strong cravings and bothersome smells.

It's very strange how much faster things happened. The only thing I could come up with was that my body has already been through it once, so it was ready even faster the second time.

I hope your back starts feeling better!

I hope your back feels better soon, if not mention it to the ob.

My first pregnancy seem to go slowly...good flow.

Second was up and running away! Went faster , bigger and more hurt. Weird I know.

But for everyone its different.

Nope! Just like me you're not alone. It can't be that we're old. It's just having a second. This pregnnacy is a lot hearder then with Kaila. I was 19 20 when I had it. It was like nothing. I'm what 27 weeks now and I feel like I did last time going into labor.

We're getting old...

My symptoms happened sooner and they were worse. I told my midwife that I thought it would be easier the second time around since my body had already been through it, but she said that everything is usually worse. Sorry for the bad news!

Each one of my pregnancies got harder for me physically. My fourth just about did my back in.

Tiffany @ Lattes And Life said...

I'm on my third, and things have gotten earlier and earlier each time. Plus, each pregnancy has been progressively harder on me. I'm 27 weeks right now and feel like I did when I was full-term last time!

I definitely had a lot more aches and pains with my last than my first. My back hurt and my hips hurt. It happened much earlier in later pregnancies for me. (I also got bigger faster!)

You mentioned on the Friday post, you use to sleep on your stomach. That is a bad position for your back...you may still have some back problems from that habit. I sleep on my back with a 4 inch thick pillow under my knees.

When you have a toddler & a baby on the way...need to remember to stand up straight & even bend backwards a bit (if you can). With a toddler to care for you are constantly bending forward...so, remember to bend the opposite way occassionally =)

To find the right kind of chiropractor go to www.idealspine.com to find 1 in your area.

I've been to 5 different chiropractors over my life time (lived in 4 different states) & I'm 36 yrs old. I've finally found the right kind of chiropractor & that has helped me the most.

Maybe consider purchasing Earth Shoes. I have high arches & they help me tremendously. Read about them www.earthfootwear.com ...because of how the shoe is designed it can help with straighter posture.

Dee, I of course only have one, so I can't comment on it hurting worse the second time. But I have a lot of back problems in general, and to combat them during pregnancy, I went once a month to the chiropractor. It helped A LOT. I experienced way less pain and discomfort that I was expecting. It was great, and I'd highly recommend it!

Yes, you do experience things sooner with each pregnancy...though hurting back was not the same for each of my pregnancies (#4 is 6 mos. old!)My 2nd was the worst for pain. I talked to my OB and got a referral to an OB physical therapist. That was VERY helpful.
