Sick+Pregnant+Chasing A Toddler= Torture

I've been sick since Sunday. No big deal, right? YES..it's a HUGE deal(at least to me)! I can't take anything for it because I'm pregnant. I can't get "extra" rest because I have a toddler. I'm TRYING to drink more fluids but I have to cut those down in the afternoon, otherwise I'm up 500 times a night running to go tinkle!

I think I'm complaining because I feel worse today. HOPEFULLY this means its about to end? I doubt it.

My mom has had whatever it is that I have since THURSDAY!! She has a three day head start on me and AND she's taken tons of meds!

She went to the Doctor on Monday...he didn't even TEST her for ANYTHING! He wore a mask and got out of her room as fast as possible because she sounded horrible! Gotta love him! He said that it was probably just viral since it had lasted this long and would go away either that day or Tuesday...it's Wednesday and she still feels like poo!

Last night I was FREEZING. I turned the heat up in my house, put two extra shirts on, and piled two blankets on top of me. Turns out I had a fever over 102! That will do it every time! I took my Tylenol and laid down, just waiting for body parts to fall off since they felt like they were about to.

On Monday, I had an OB appt and told her that I didn't feel well and explained what my mom was feeling. Coughing, headache, fever, aching all over, oh and feeling like your chest is going to sink in at any minute. She said I could take Tylenol and Mucinex for the cough. Mucinex hasn't touched whatever it is that I have so I quit taking it yesterday.

Sorry to bother you with my long whine, but I've about had it. Pin It!

You are SO not whining. It's tough being pregnant while already having a child, especially a toddler! Throw in being sick on top of it all and I think you're well within your right to complain a bit. Take care of yourself and get that crud out of your system!

It's hard enough to be sick and miserable when you are home with children, but to be pregnant on top of that - yuck! I wish you could just go lay down and not have to worry about anything! Feel better soon..

Oh man I've so been there. Jacob was 9 months old when I got pregnant with Josslyn, plus I had a 5 year old. I hope you can get some rest soon. I hate being sick while pregnant.

I'm sorry you are still not feeling better. I know this may sound silly, but I read somewhere that chicken soup really does have some medicinal powers. It may be worth trying since you can't take any medicines!! I hope you feel better soon!

Let me just say, I FEEL YOUR PAIN!

Sick + 2 year old + eight months pregnant = not fun.

He's been sick, my six year old has been sick, he got sick again, and now I'm fighting it off.

You're not whining!

Being pregnant and sick is just the worst and it's because there is so little you can take. I really hope you feel better soon. I stopped by today as I'm working on visiting the many blogs from Bloggy Carnival now that I have time to read and comment.

I completely understand what you are going through! My third pregnancy I had the same thing that you have - fever and all. It was not fun still having to be cook, waittress, nurse etc for my 3& 4 year olds. I hope that you feel better soon and find time for a nap!

Your blog has been so helpful to me...may I pass on some info. I've learned.

Drinking hot/warm liquids (drinks or soup) are digested faster...as cold drinks take longer to digest. I figure the quicker it gets through you...the more you can drink (during the day) and the faster the cold bugs (hopefully) will get washed out.

Some tips from my chiropractor, who is very knowledgable on this stuff (he has had more hours on dietary teaching than my other Drs).

"From onset of cold/flu like symptoms, alkalizing your blood stream will lessen the media for bacteria/virus reproduction. For 3 to 4 days eat nothing but the following foods: celery/1 stalk every day, cantaloupe, watermelon, asparagus, carrots and 1/4 glass of real lemon juice in 8 oz. of water (two times per day).

Even when healthy, it is good to include those foods in your diet 3 to 4 times per week.

I had the same thing a few weeks back. The Mucinex didn't work for me either. Most of my symptoms went away in 10 days, but the cough lingered for 3 weeks. I hope you feel better soon.
