OH NO-The Flu

At my last doctor's appointment, my doc all but forced me to get a flu shot. I just didn't want to get another shot and I've heard about some people getting sick after they had it. He said that was a myth, but I said I'd think about it and maybe I'd get one at the next appointment.

He gave me a short lecture on pregnant women having the flu and then having miscarriages.

WELL, my brother was at my house ALL day yesterday. He woke up this morning with a fever. My mom took him to the doctor and he has the flu!! My brother even had the flu shot this year!

Now my doctor has me all scared that if I get the flu from my brother, something will happen to my baby. Pin It!

Load up on Vitamin C, and wash those hands frequently. I hope you don't get sick!

I understand getting a flu shot when you're pregnant, but I don't think the doc needed to take it quite that far.

I'm not sure why in the world your doc would scare you like that....Dr. Mike says that tons of people get the flu and never even know it because they think it's just a bad cold or a migraine....of course, he still makes every last one of us get the shot! I do really hope you stay well...sick and pregnant is not fun!

I didn't get the flu shot, and I was fine. Remember, you're taking prenatals so you got lots of good vitamins running through you too! Just stay away from the sickies and wash your hands!

It is a hard call. I think you did the right thing by getting the shot.

I was pregnant last winter. Never once did any one tell me to get the flu shot! I have never had the flu shot or the flu...I hope it stays that way! I hope you didn't/don't catch it from your brother.

Oh yucky. I hope you don't get it. Everyone in my family who ever got the shot always got sick. Me, I never get the shot and usually do not get the flu. I am knocking on wood now...LOL I say get some Lysol and spray away. Good luck.

Oh your doctor, IMO, went too far. Just make sure everything is washed and you keep your hands washed and drink plenty of fluids.

Wonder how his shoes taste right now?? Don't worry too much! They like to give worst case scenarios!! Get sleep, eat well, etc etc...all things I'm sure you're doing already!! I hate pushy doctors who think you absolutely must listen them (and yeah, the flu shot doesn't protect from all strains!)
Stay well!

I agree with the previous posters. Take good care of yourself and if you do catch it...call your OB immediately. He/she can monitor you for dehydration...which I think is the main concern.

Unfortunately, many are coming down with a flu strain that this years shot didn't cover. Get lots of rest, wash your hands often, take your vitamins and drink lots of fluids. It's tough to be pregnant, sick and caring for another young child.

May God bless you and your little ones with good health.

Rest easy!

My 18 mo old just came down with the flu, I'm expecting twins and my doctor has no worries.

Just keep hydrated, take your vitamins, drink some OJ, and get extra sleep. If you do start to feel sick SLEEP!
