Aloha Friday #7

Photobucket

It's Aloha Friday again over at An Island Life!

I was sad that I missed it last week, but I was out of town!

My question for this week is...

Do you have fine china? Do you use it?
We have some and I think it is really pretty! Hubby's aunts from England gave us a whole set a few years ago. But...it's all still in boxes in a drawer in my dining room! I want to get a china cabinet so that I can at least see it!
I didn't register for it when we got married because I wanted/needed so many other things. Plus, shortly after we got engaged my mom got us some really pretty white stoneware like stuff that serves as my "china" but is A LOT thicker and can go in the dishwasher and microwave! :) Pin It!

Nope! I sure don't! Heck, I'm lucky if we use dishes at all, and not paper plates!!

Years ago when I worked at Kohl's I got a set of Pfaltzgraph dishes for $30 and they were regular $100 dishes. It was a great deal. We ended up using them as every day dishes and most of them have been broken since then so no I don't have nice China. Maybe someday when my kids get bigger and I have a nice cabinet to keep it all in.

No, we don't have fine china. My parents have fine china plates, but have never used them. So I thought the idea of me getting fine china plates to not use would be silly. And I'm not a displayer of anything (no dolls, knick knacks, or shot glasses) so it be silly for me to get them to display.

Nope, we do not have any fine china at all. We don't even use glasses in my house.

No fine china here. We keep kosher and have two sets of dishes as it is (dairy and meat), plus more for Passover. My mother actually offered me her set that she has never used in ~35 years.

We don't have fine china, either. In fact, we use plates purchased at Wal-Mart many years ago. They're pyrex and they *never* break. I used to have Hungarian stonewear, but my beloved, perfect, adored husband accidentally broke 3 or 4 of everything, until finally I was like, "Get me something that won't break!"

We *do* have a china teaset that was a gift from my parents, and some lovely stoneware serving dishes. But that's it.

Yep! We have a nice set that we received as wedding gifts. And no, we do not use it. We used it once at Thanksgiving last year. Hopefully someday we will have more holiday meals at our house and have more opportunity to use it!

No fine china here. When the Hubs and I got married, we were REALLY young and didn't register for hardly anything! When my kids get slightly bigger, i'll go and purchase some, but i'm afraid they will BREAK it all! They are all hands and no matter if it's in a cabinet, they will get their hands on it and break it. HAHA! One day...one day!

Nope, I don't own any. I have my Pfaltzgraff set that we use everyday for everything. I have my Grandma's old dishes that I would use for special occasions.

Aloha!

No fine china here. I have a set that my mother in law wants to give me, but honestly I don't like storing dishes. I like using pretty dishes everyday, so she'd probably cringe if I used them daily. =)

Yup!!! We received them as a wedding gift... but we've NEVER used them...

Cheap china & no, I have never used it. Maybe I'll break it out this year.

I have a fine china teapot and tea cups. It started with the teapot and 2 matching cups from my mother-in-law. Then, every once in a while my husband would (in the early years of our marriage) buy me a new tea cup of a different design to commemorate something special. Each tea cup has a very special memory and I love serving tea with my fancy china "set" on special occasions!

Yes, but it's in storage. We never use it!

I don't have fine china...and don't really want it right now. I don't have room for it, and I feel like it would just more clutter in my house.

Nope, and nope. Don't have it, don't need it and wouldn't use it if I had it. We just don't have the room, and with kids, don't have the interest in using it. Our regular dishes are nice enough. :)

I don't have china. For some reason the having china would make me feel a little to much like my mother in law...not something I am interested in.

YEP sure do! I was a military brat and spend most of my life oversea. I was lucky enough to Czech when the gates opened up, 8 times. I was a bit different as a preteen, I loved beautiful stuff. I even had a black forest china cabinet to hold it all in my room!!!! The dishes were in there with my collection of cabbage patch kids and sock monkeys (HONESTLY). Crossing the borders you had to get everything registered so it was/is. Needless to say every time I went I got more and more china. I have a couple (like 5 truly) of sets and they are displayed on a IKEA open rack in my dinning room, like art. I use them for gathering and parties but not as daily wear. I was gifted Spanish dishes that we use daily. Those are displayed on another IKEA rack like art as well. My Dishes are my ART.

Great post!!!

Love is....

Any chance I get I bust those pretty things out!! Waterford Kilbary Platinum....it's simple, but goes with everything...love it. We received about 12 settings for our wedding a few years ago. It's the only super-nice thing that "I" actually own :)
